Our Style

We go with the Grain

Every house, every hotel, every county is different - and that’s exactly how we like it. We always take our lead from the spirit of the building and its surroundings, from the local landscape to the food culture just outside the garden gate. Each PIG grows naturally from its setting, shaped more by instinct than a style guide.

Laid-back country houses

Our houses aren’t polished hotels – they’re relaxed country homes filled with character. Every room is a mix of antique finds, worn-in furniture and homely touches that feel collected over time rather than designed in one go. It’s about comfort, charm and lived-in style.

Quirks and corners

No two PIGs look the same. Each has its own quirks – from crooked staircases and creaky floors to unexpected art, vintage textiles and reclaimed treasures. Every corner tells a story, and we love it when you make yourselves at home in our home

A family home feel

Much of THE PIG’s look and feel comes from the eye of our former Creative Director Judy Hutson. Judy has shaped the style of each house, blending antiques, reclaimed pieces and garden-inspired details to create interiors that feel relaxed, eclectic and full of soul. Her touch is what makes every PIG warm, lived-in and unmistakably itself. Blending antiques, reclaimed pieces and personal touches, Judy has created interiors that feel more like a much-loved family home than a hotel - relaxed, eclectic and instantly welcoming.

Old souls, new life

Old buildings with plenty of soul are given new life at THE PIG, always with a light touch, letting the quirks show rather than hiding them. Local hands shape spaces with natural materials and gardens spill inside blurring the edges between house and landscape.

We have always disliked anything stuffy, formal or overly styled. We love things with history — so from the very beginning, our spaces have been filled with vintage furniture, timeworn paintings, mismatched china and glasses and our favourite junk-shop finds. Why buy new, when an old piece can be given new purpose by a skilled local carpenter?

Just like our food producer friends we seek out and champion small-scale makers, artists and craftspeople who work with their hands and their hearts. From recycled sari lampshades to hand-sewn terrace parasols, we choose natural materials and local talent wherever we can - it’s about finding beauty in the real, the honest, the well made.

We never try to polish away a building’s character. Whether it’s the main house or the outbuildings, barns and sheds, we keep as much of the original as we can — exposed beams, crumbling bricks, worn floorboards. Over the years, we’ve grown bolder in the way we work with what’s already there, folding it into each hotel’s story.

Right from the start, the kitchen garden was always meant to be the heart of THE PIG - not just something pretty to look at, but a living, growing part of everything we do. What started as instinct has become something of an obsession: if we can grow it, make it or source it nearby, we will. That home-grown, handmade, local-first way of thinking is now in our DNA.
